As the popularity of noninvasive cosmetic procedures continues to rise, many patients are making small changes that can better their appearance and self-esteem. Aging may be a fact of life, but there are options available that allow people to age on their own terms.
Marotta Medspa provides cutting-edge treatments for vein disease. Vein disease, also known as varicose veins, is characterized by unsightly and painful veins that may appear during or after pregnancy, in women who stand for prolonged periods, or in women who may have a genetic predisposition. Varicose veins are swollen and protruding, and can often be seen through the skin. These veins are typically blue and bulging, and if left untreated they can cause aching, leg fatigue, rashes, redness or sores.

For some, makeup and other cover-ups can hide the issue – but for many, the problem may be painful and extensive.
How can this be treated?
For some patients, a simple life change such as investing in compression socks can make all the difference. Other patients decide to undergo venous ablation to reduce the associated appearance and pain.
At Marotta Plastic Surgery Specialists, sclerotherapy and laser are used in combination to treat varicose veins. Sclerotherapy is a procedure where a very fine gauge needle is used to inject a solution directly into the veins to cause them to collapse and disappear. Pressure is then applied using bandages to reduce the potential for bruising and swelling, and the patient is asked to wear compression stockings for a couple weeks post-procedure to maximize the results. The NG: Yag laser can be used either before or after Sclerotherapy to specifically target superficial and extremely small veins. This laser targets the pigment in the veins, and through a heating process can cause them to occlude and fade.
