How an Arm Lift Can Change Your Life

This might be described as the year of bigger butts, flatter stomachs and smaller breasts, but what about other parts of the body? While the afore-mentioned areas continue to get most of the headlines, other parts of the body shouldn't be ignored.

"Arms can be very telling of age and weight gain."

An arm lift, known as a brachioplasty, can help eliminate sagging or drooping skin- by tightening and smoothing the underlying supportive tissuesof the arm, and reducing localized pockets of fat.

Changes in the arms can be caused by a range of factors, including hereditary disposition, age and weight fluctuations. Exercise can remedy some issues associated with bigger arms, but for some patients, even the most rigid routines will not help.

Plastic surgery can make a difference. During an arm lift procedure, an incision is made in a predetermined area on the arm depending on the amount of fat and excess skin. Incisions are most commonly placed on the inside or back of the arm, extending from the underarm to the elbowand / or in the axilla or armpit region.

Once this incision is made, excess fat is then removed. The underlying supportive tissue is tightened and reshaped with internal sutures, and the skin is then entirely smoothed over to improve overall contour.Typically, liposuction is also performed to ensure the most optimal contour is achieved.

Afterward, incisionsare closed with absorbable sutures that areremoved at a later date. During the recovery period, it's essential to keep arms in compression garments to minimize swelling and other complications.

Most people can return to their daily routines within two weeks, and to their exercise routines within four to six weeks.
