The Max FX treatment is delivered using the Ultrapulse CO2 Laser. Marotta Plastic Surgery Specialists is proud to offer Ultrapulse CO2 laser resurfacing which represents the most advanced laser treatment available today. Dr. Marotta’s extensive research into CO2 laser systems led him to choose the Ultrapulse. The laser is 6 times more powerful than any other CO2 laser available. This power translates into deeper skin penetration, less pain, and greater results. The Ultrapulse was featured on 20/20, the Today show, and the Doctors. The Max FX laser treatment protocol is the highest grade laser treatment offered at Marotta Plastic Surgery Specialists. The Max FX Laser treatment is the “gold standard” of laser skin resurfacing offering the most effective non-surgical treatment available for fine and deep wrinkles, brown spots, folds, skin tightening, scars, acne scars, and pores. The Max FX is fully ablative multipass CO2 laser skin resurfacing, which has been in widespread use by physicians since the 80’s, and is the most studied and proven laser treatment. The Max FX treatment is best suited for lighter skin types and for patients who want to achieve maximum results. The Max FX can be used only on the face.
Reasons for getting a Max FX:
- Reduction of wrinkles e.g. Crow’s feet, lipstick lines
- Tightening of skin
- Elimination of sun damaged skin and age spots on the face, hands, shoulders/back, chest, and neck
- Diminish Acne scars or other scars
- Destruction of skin lesions
The Max FX CO2 laser procedure is done in the office under IV sedation anesthesia. Max FX is frequently done at the same time as other facial rejuvenation procedures e.g. facelift. Dr. Marotta uses the Max FX mode to sequentially ablate skin with deep wrinkles, folds, and scars, fine lines and age spots. Multiple passes are done on the face to correct even deep problems in the skin. Skin lesions may be removed with the laser at the same time.
The skin may appear red and swollen immediately following the procedure. Cool compresses and ointment are applied to soothe the skin. Patients describe little to no pain with a light burning sensation that ceases within an hour following the procedure. The skin will appear red and swollen, slough and heal over 7-10 days. Make-up and sunscreen/moisturizer can then be used. Patients generally return to work in 7 to 10 days. The underlying skin will appear pink to red and healthier. This pink or red appearance fades gradually over 6 weeks to 6 months and easily covered with make-up. Continued improvement in wrinkle correction, skin tightening and texture from the CO2 laser can be seen even up to two years following the procedure.
