What is Restylane® and how does it work?
Restylane® is made of hyaluronic acid, which is found naturally in our bodies in joints and cartilage. It is a soft, clear substance and is entirely bio-degradable, which is one of the reasons why it is the most trusted lip enhancer available. The effects of Restylane® last about 6 months, and recent clinical trials showed that at least 95 percent of patients tested retained correction 18 months later when the area had been retreated at 5-9 months.
Restylane® has been used in the United States since 1994, and since being approved by the FDA, has been an integral part of millions of facial rejuvenation treatments, including many performed by Long Island plastic surgeon Dr. James Marotta.

What to expect during your Restylane® treatment at Marotta Plastic Surgery Specialists
Restylane® can be administered by one of our specialists on Long Island.. Topical anesthetics, ice or local anesthetics can be used to eliminate any pain after the injections. Our expert injectors apply Restylane® to the areas in need of improvement using very small amounts at a time to ensure a smooth and even distribution. The lips are injected in a manner that produces adequate augmentation with the most natural results.
Immediately following injection, an ice pack will be placed on your face to soothe and minimize the potential for bruising or swelling. You may have some redness or swelling at the injection site, although this usually dissipates rapidly, allowing most patients return to work immediately following the procedure. If you have had lip enhancement, swelling may be more pronounced and last a bit longer. The improvement in your appearance is immediate and will last 6-8 months.
