Dear Patients,
I hope you and your families are all well and coping the best you can with the current crisis. I am writing to give you a quick update regarding the state of Marotta Plastic Surgery Specialists re-opening and the handling of patient appointments.
Since closing in Mid-March we have been rescheduling patient appointments in 2 week increments with the hope that we would be allowed to reopen the office in a relatively short period of time. As you know, the “New York On Pause” date, which requires us to be closed has been extended multiple times requiring us to reschedule many of your appointments, perhaps more than once. We apologize if this has been frustrating or an inconvenience for you, but the situation is clearly out of our control. We have been doing this as a courtesy to secure appointment times for you on a schedule that is backlogged with little availability.
To this date, we still have no definitive date from New York State as to when we will be allowed to re-open. All elective surgery is prohibited at least until May 29th.
Regarding opening the office for non-emergent visits, I have been informed by Suffolk County Department of Health and the New York State Department of Health that we are prohibited from doing so. Opening our practice is part of “Phase II” of the state re-opening which currently has no date. As you may know, “Phase I” reopening is tentatively scheduled for May 15th with some construction, manufacturing and retail allowed to return.
Given the current uncertainty of when we will be allowed to open for either visits or surgery, you have 2 options as a patient who has missed or will miss their appointment due to the crisis:
- You can reschedule the appointment in the future with the understanding that this may need to be changed (even multiple times) as required by New York State.
- You can elect to be put on our COVID rescheduling list and we will call you to reschedule when we know definitively we can reopen.
Until we open, we are just a phone call or click away. Telehealth consultations, appointments and even virtual 3D imaging are all available and just some of the ways we have adapted the practice to keep connecting with patients.
You, as always, are our number one priority. We can’t wait to see you all again.
God Bless and Be Well,
James C. Marotta, MD
