A recent study conducted by Fractl, a content marketing agency, found that perceptions of beauty vary country to country. Female freelance designers in 18 different countries used Photoshop on the same image to create what they felt was the most sought-after appearance.
As seen here, the results vary greatly. In countries like Columbia and Spain, a fuller body proportion is desired, as compared to Italy and China, where tinier frames are the most preferred.
“It shows that an ideal is often extenuated and unobtainable and varies globally. It also demonstrates the need for understanding the different desires of niche groups and how this may impact cosmetic treatments,” said Jason Emer, M.D. to Cosmetic Surgery Times.
