Have you ever been to the hospital for an injury or illness? Or have you ever had a plastic surgery procedure done to enhance part of your body? Chances are, at some point during your visit, you came across a nurse who not only assisted you medically, but also provided you with a warm smile to lift you up emotionally. Nurses are the foundation of any hospital, clinic or doctor's office, and despite the often long, hard hours they work, they have the innate ability to make each patient feel special.

That's why we celebrate National Nurses Week. Each year, people from all over the country come together to commend and thank nurses for everything they do. And trust us when we saythey do a lot!
For Long Island plastic surgeon Dr. Marotta, of Marotta Plastic Surgery Specialists, working alongside his nurses, Kelly Facella COO & LPN, Ann Marie Pandullo RN and Sarah Reicherter RN, has been extra special because it reminds him of a childhood moment when he had his tonsils removed.
"When I was 4 years old I had my tonsils taken out. I awoke to a nurse in white and vanilla ice cream. I told my mom I thought an angel visited me. (Maybe the ice cream was that good). I get to witness our "angels" in action every day, and the care they provide for our patients is just incredible. I feel privileged to work with them and to give them the honor they deserve this National Nurses Week."
While nurses have been officially recognized in various forms for the past several decades, we've all appreciated nurses for much longer than that. Each of our nurse injectors, who are members of the Organization of Facial Plastic Surgery Assistants, will always have a special place in our hearts. This year, remember to take time out of your busy schedule to thank a nurse.
