As surgical procedures continue to improve, some surgeons are reaching for new heights, combining patient surgeries for the best outcomes possible.
In a recent study conducted at theCentre Hospitalier Universitaire de Tivoli, researchers in Brussels found that surgeons are combiningsurgeries with real results. This new technique involves power-assisted liposculptingand fat harvesting around the buttocks with large volume fat transfer.
"Surgeons are combining patient surgeries for the best outcomes possible."
The study found that although a few of the 110 patients reported minor complications, most said the combined surgery was a success. Based on this, the combined procedure is now being touted as an efficient, safe and easy-to-replicate procedure for patients seeking a life change.
"To our knowledge, this is the first report to describe the use of power-assisted technology for gluteal augmentation and sculpting by combined liposuction of the areas around the buttock and large-volume fat transfer to the buttock by vibration and tunnelization. This technique enhances tissue competency for large-volume fat grafting by decreasing the operative time without compromising the safety of the procedure," saidstudy co-author Saad Dibo, M.D
Although this surgery has only been tested in one major study, both a buttock augmentation and a large volume fat transfer are available at Marotta Plastic Surgery Specialists.
A buttock augmentation reshapes and enhances the gluteal area, creating a more shapely and uplifted backside. Through an autologous fat transfer, fat from one area of the body is transferred to the buttocks, most often from the abdomen, hips and thighs. This fatty tissue is then re-injected into the buttocks.
During a large volume fat transfer, fat from one area of the body is also used to plump and enhance another more deficient area. By filling these depressed areas, patients can achieve a more rejuvenated appearance.
