Awards season is upon us yet again, and there are plenty of style tips for women (and men) on Long Island to snatch from red carpet stars. However, while our favorite celebrities can provide plenty of inspiration, there is one common pitfall toavoid. Sure, we all want to reduce wrinkles and look younger, but few things will age you faster than adopting a "youthful" style that doesn't suit you.
Any mature woman with a love for all things that glimmer knows that this is a tricky line to walk. After all, a bit of sheen and glamour can quickly turn into a glitter fest that feels more immature than immortal. But actress Lupita Nyong'o recently showed that a bit of shimmer can be daring, sophisticated and downright beautiful.
Nyong'o, who stars in "12 Years a Slave," attended the Critics' Choice Awards with a show-stopping look that Glamour Magazine just had to learn more about.
"We went for a 'pearl goddess' look with the eyes, starting with shimmering pearlized cream shadow on her upper lid," celebrity makeup artist Nick Barose told the source of Nyong'o'slook. "Then I smudged black shimmery powder and pencilalong the outer corners and lower lash line as well as in the crease. When pairing black shadow next to white, the contrast creates enough drama already, so always be sure to blend the edges where the two colors merge."
Feel free to try out this daring look the next time you really want to make an impact! Of course, if you find that no amount of sheen seems to draw attention away from fine lines and wrinkles, consider consulting a skin care specialist. At Marotta Aesthetics & Laser, Long Island plastic surgeon Dr. James Marotta and his staff can help you address dark spots, sagging skin and more via laser treatments, dermal fillers, chemical peels and other rejuvenating services.
